Why Us?

Bless the Lord,
ye His angels, that excel in strength, that do His
commandments,
hearkening unto the voice of His word. Psalms 103:20
Sometimes
I wonder why God created us as humans, creatures of free choice. We get
ourselves into trouble all the time, and to think about all the people that
turn away from Him. It must be torture for Him to see the constant disregard
and persistent disrespect from us. So with all of this I find myself asking the
question, “Why would God create us?”
A few
weeks ago the answer drifted across my mind. You see, before creation some
terrible things took place in heaven, there was a war. It had been a crucial point in time and God
knew angels were being persuaded wrongfully -- and not just a few angels, but a
third of the angel population had been cast out of Heaven. These angel creations were lost to Him
forever.
So I
believe God created us to fill in the gap.
He allows us to reproduce and make choices. We are on display for the universe as other
beings watch intently as our story unfolds and we choose life in Jesus or we
reject His gift and follow Satan, the fallen one. God has allowed Satan to interact with us as
a crucial test for us, and we have failed miserably. However, God’s love is so profound that He
sacrificed His life for our second chance.
We can
still accept His free gift and fill that gap in Heaven. He is coming soon to take His faithful
followers home! May we be ready.
